Bungo-no-jō Miyakoji was born in 1660.
He was originally a disciple of Itchii Miyako, the father of Itchubushi, under the name of Kunidayu-hanchu Miyako.
Later during the Нoеі Era from 1704 to 1710, he separated from his master and founded his own school known as Bungobushi, and also changed his name to Miyakoji. Later he moved to Edo and won great fame by appearing on the stage of Ichimuraza Theater in 1730. His fame, however, did not last long for he came under the Shogun's morality drive and was prohibited from appearing on the stage.
