Background
Bunkyo was born in 1785, in Japan. Son of a physician of the Takada Clan in Echigo (Niigata Prefecture), he operated a book-shop and wrote ghost stories. Also wrote plays under the guidance of Namboku Tsuruya IV, the master of ghost plays.
