Bunkyo Nomura was trained by Toka Umegawa, Bunrin Shiokawa and then Kansai Mori in the Shijo school of Japanese painting. Taught at the Kyoto Prefectural Painting School.
Bunkyo Nomura was appointed professor at the Peers School (1889). He often painted pictures at the order of the Court. He was appointed a judge of the Education Ministry's Art Exhibition.
