Bunya Okamoto was a disciple of Sumidayu Yamamoto, a master reciter with the rank of Tosa-no-jo, he recited in a theater in Osaka.
Career
A master reciter of joruri of the Kamigata school which was popular in the Kyoto-Osaka area, he originated and popularized Bunyabushi style of recitation of which the pathetic tones appealed to the masses.
