Burr Powell Harrison was a United States. Representative from Virginia, son of Thomas W. Harrison.
Education
Born in Winchester, Virginia, Harrison attended the public schools, Woodberry Forest School, Virginia Military Institute, Hampden-Sydney College, and the University of Virginia. He was graduated from Georgetown University Law School, Washington, District of Columbia, in 1926.
Career
He was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice in Winchester, Virginia. Attorney for Frederick County in 1932–1940. He served in Senate of Virginia during the years 1940–1943.
He served as judge of the seventeenth judicial circuit and the corporation court of Winchester in 1943–1946. was elected simultaneously as a Democrat to the Seventy-ninth and to the Eightieth Congress by special election to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of United States Representative A. Willis Robertson, and reelected to the seven succeeding Congresses (November 5, 1946 – January 3, 1963).
He was not a candidate for renomination to the Eighty-eighth Congress in 1962. He resumed the practice of law.
Resided in Winchester, Virginia, until his death there December 29, 1973. He was interred in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
1946; was elected to the United States. House of Representatives in a special election with 62.53% of the vote, defeating Republican Karl Jenkins.
He was simultaneously elected in the general election with 62.32% of the vote, defeating Republican Jenkins. 1948; was re-elected with 60.43% of the vote, defeating Republican Stephen Doctorate. Timberlake. 1950; was re-elected with 69.41% of the vote, defeating Republican Jacob A. Garber.

Was re-elected with 79.09% of the vote, defeating Republican Glenn West. Ruebush. 1954; was re-elected with 74.17% of the vote, defeating Republican John P. Ruddick. 1956; was re-elected with 69.04% of the vote, defeating Republican Arkansas Dunning.
1958.
Was re-elected with 76.64% of the vote, defeating Independent Henry A. Oder. 1960; was re-elected unopposed.
