Educated Latin School at Weimar. In music chiefly self-taught, but studied with Montag at Weimar and with Schoch at Frankfort-on-the-Main. Studied violin and other orchestra instruments at Arnstadt.
Taught, Frankfort-on-the-Main, 1868-1882 (1878-1882 in Doctor Hoch’s Conservatory), Peabody Institute, Baltimore, 1882-1885, North-East. Conservatory of Music, Boston, 1885-1897. Founder, 1897, and from then director Faelten Pianoforte School, Boston.
Concert pianist.
Has compiled numerous instruction books, including (with his brother) The Faelten System of Fundamental Training. Home: Holliston, Massachusetts
