In 1980 Carla Steiger-Meister was a photography instructor for Continuing Education at Indiana University at South Bend. She was a visiting artist at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio, in 1979. From 1977 to 1978 Carla Steiger-Meister was an assistant professor of photography at Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio, and from 1975 to 1977 served as a teaching assistant and lab manager in photography at the University of Minnesota. In 1974 Carla Steiger-Meister was a photographer and researcher for the San Francisco Bay Guardian.
