Excerpt from At the Moment of Victory, Vol. 3 of 3 Sir Peter echoed Lance's regret. Yes, a thousand pities, he said, pushing back his chair and indulging in a brisk trot round the room, but I've no doubt she'll be all right again by the morning; a good night's rest works wonders - this was said at Lance's elbow. And the little trip to Italy is just the very thing she's needing - this was said at the door. I say, Lance! - here he came back at a run to Lance's elbow once more, with a look on his face which proclaimed a serious subject for thought on hand now. Excerpt from At the Moment of Victory, Vol. 1 of 3 The hush of twilight was falling upon the rugged mountains and deep ravines of Santa -maura, a lonely hamlet on the Corsican coast bird-notes were dying under it the whirr and stir of summer insect life growing faint; even the wash and swirl of the Mediterranean sounded dreamy and far away under the spell of the silent-footed Angel-herald of the night. He beckoned to the great, gloomy forests of pine and cork, and they sent forth their shadows in. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from Judith Wynne, Vol. 2 of 3: A Novel If as the poet sings, "variety is the spice of life," existence at the old Grange must have been singularly flavourless during the last four months of that year. Wolf went about the house silent, reserved, gloomy as usual, shutting himself much in his own room, and shunning every possible chance of a tete-à-tete with Judith.
