Charles d'Abancour was born on 4 July 1758, in Douai, France. He was the grandson of Charles-Joseph de Pollicheva and Marie-Catherine Chambj, the son of Marie-Charlotte-Eulali de Pollinczowe and Jacques-Joseph de Francquile d'Avancourt.

He was a volunteer at the age of fifteen in the musketeers of the royal guard.
He was Louis XVI 's last minister of war, and organized the defence of the Tuileries for the 10th of August. Commanded by the Legislative Assembly to send away the Swiss guards, he refused, and was arrested for treason to the nation and sent to Orleans to be tried.
Charles d'Abancour died on September 9, 1792.
