A graduate in architecture at Cornell University in 1912, Mr. Dewey completed his training in New York City
He joined the office of Henry C. Chap¬man. In 1920 he moved to Pleasantville and maintained independent practice there during the rest of his life, designing a number of residences and apartment houses throughout Westchester County and in Connecticut. In Pleasantville he was architect of the Manville Apartments, Municipal Gardens, Post Office Building and the Cornell Office Building, where he established an office. He also designed the Pumping Station at Hawthorne, N. Y. and the distinctive Music Studio of John Haussman at Chappaqua.
In addition to his practice Mr. Dewey was active in civic affairs, serving two years (1930-32) on Pleasantville's Board of Trustees, and during a later period was a member and Chairman of the City Planning Commission. In 1937 he became a charter member of the Westchester Chapter, A.I.A.
