Career
Exley obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University in 1951 and an Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School in 1954. A 22-year veteran of the Burroughs Corporation, Exley was appointed president of National Cash Register in 1976 and served in that position until 1988. He served as Chief Executive Officer from 1983 to 1993 and Chairman from 1984 to 1992.
