Charles Frye was born on March 18, 1946 in Washington, District of Columbia, United States.

Education

Charles received his B.A. and M.A. at Howard University, and Ph.D. at University of Pittsburgh.

Career

Charles worked as a librarian and teacher in Washington, District of Columbia. Then he worked as an assistant professor at Howard University and director of interdisciplinary studies at Fayetteville State University. In 1978 he became an associate dean of students and associate professor of education at Hampshire College, andtill 1994 he was a professor of African philosophy and humanities at Southern University.

• Charles is famous for his works The Impact of Black Studies on the Curricula of Three Universities, Towards a Philosophy of Black Studies, and Level Three: A Black Philosophy Reader.
