22 June 1916 - Lieutenant Charles William Nutting Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, Lieutenant Edward Raymond Peal, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve and Sub-Lieutenant Horace William Furnival, RNR are each awarded the Distinguished Service Cross: In recognition of their services as aeroplane observers and continuous good work whilst attached to a Wing of the Royal Naval Air Service at Dunkirk. 11 July 1940 - Air Commodore Charles William Nutting Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Distinguished Service Cross, Royal Air Force is promoted to a Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
