Charles P. Pierce is a writer whose publications include Hard to Forget: An Alzheimer’s Story, an account of his father’s affliction with Alzheimer’s disease. In addition to charting his father’s decline, Pierce reflects on his own behavior as his father succumbed to Alzheimer’s. Pierce also relates how his mother’s angry reaction to his father’s illness influenced family dynamics.
Pierce’s second book, Sports Guy: In Search of Cork-ball, Warroad Hockey, Hooters Golf, Tiger Woods, and the Big, Big Game, is a collection of essays on topics ranging from the famous golfer of the subtitle and Magic Johnson to rambling tales of little known or unknown coaches and athletes whom Pierce has met during his journalism career. Charles is also the author of Moving the Chains: Tom Brady and the Pursuit of Everything and Idiot America: How Stupidity Became a Virtue in the Land of the Free.
Charles Pierce is a former forest ranger in Massachusetts. He worked as a journalist in Milwaukee, and broadcaster and panelist for National Public Radio. His work has appeared in the New York Times Magazine, the LA Times Magazine, the Nation, the Atlantic, Sports Illustrated and The Chicago Tribune. Since 1997 Charles has been a writer at large at Esquire, where he is currently the lead political blogger.
