About 1890 Mr. Plummer began work in Seattle, Wash. Moving later to California, he opened an office in Los Angeles and during the years that followed designed a number of the better known stores, shops and restaurants in the city. Noted among these was Young’s Grocery Store, the Wetherby-Kaiser Shoe Store, the Chocolate Shop on West Sixth Street, with walls of the interior embellished with large paintings; the Pettifils Restaurant on Broadway, and Boos Brothers Cafeteria (the first of that type of self-service restaurants in the country). In addition he designed the Del Mar Beach Club in Santa Monica, completed about 1923.
A member of the Southern California Chapter, A I A after Mr. Plummer maintained an office in the W. P. Story Building for many years.
