Scholer, Charles Henry was born on September 19, 1890 in Lincoln County, Kansas, United States. Son of Frederick Madsen and Henrietta (Baldwin) Scholer.

Assistant bridge engineer State Highway Department Topeka, 1917. Engineer Ordnance Department, Washington, District of Columbia, 1918-1919. With Kansas State College since 1919, as engineer of tests, 1919-1920, associate professor and professor applied mechanics, 1920-1961, professor emeritus, since 1961, head of department, 1923-1956.

Consultant on numerous engineering projects. Consultant Portland Cement Association, 1939-1940, Cons. Kansas Turnpike Authority, 1954-1955.

Chairman of Highway Research Board, 1958.
