PEARSON, Charles Yelverton. Doctor of Medicine was born on August 27, 1857 in Kil worth, Company Cork. 4th son of William W. Pearson, Doctor of Medicine, who was great-grandson of Reverend William Pearson, Doctor of Laws, Chancellor of York and Archdeacon of Nottingham.
Education
Studied at at the Model and Messrs. Perrotts’ Schools, Cork. Obtained numerous scholarships, exhibitions, and prizes in Queen's College, Cork, and graduated Doctor of Medicine with 1st honours and gold medal in the Queen's University 1878.
Master in Surgery.
Career
Appointed Senior Demonstrator of Anatomy in Queen's College, 1878. Professor of Materia Medica, 1884. Obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, 1886, by examination.
Is Surgeon to the North Charitable Infirmary, and to the County and City of Cork Victoria Hospital for Women and Children.
Honourable Obstetric Surgeon to the County and City of Cork Lying-in Hospital. Is one of the Examiners for medical degrees in the Royal University of Ireland.
Life honorary member of the Austin Flint Medical Association of Iowa, United States of America, 1900. Appointed Surgical Fellow of the Royal University of Ireland, 1903.
Senator of the National University of Ireland, 1908.
Holds several other medical appointments. Professor of Surgery, University College, Cork (formerly Queen's), since 1900.
