Simon was raised by his mother Denise Simon on the Westside of Detroit.

He attended Elmdale Consevatory for the Visual and Performing Arts elementary school. Simon has a son, Chase Simon junior.It was reported that Simon chose Carnegie Mellon University over offers from schools such as Michigan,DePaul, Wisconsin, Xavier, Dayton, and Clemson to stay close to home as well as his relationship with his childhood aau coach, William Eddie, who was hired as an assistant coach at Carnegie Mellon University.
Simon initially played for Central Michigan University before leaving due to differences with head coach Ernie Zeigler. He then redshirted his sophomore year after transferring to University of Detroit Mercy"s Titans team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I. During his four seasons with the Titans, he became one of the main contributors on the team Simon went undrafted in 2012, and left for Europe.
He signed with Greek club Aris British Columbia that season.
However, due to the club"s financial difficulties, Simon left the team and signed with the Lithuanian club British Columbia Šiauliai.
