Lan received a Bachelor of Science degree from National Chang Hua Normal University in 1980. Two years later he was given a Master of Science degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from National Tsing Hua University in 1991.
Career
Lan began his career as a chemical engineer at First Nuclear Power Plant in Taipei in 1982. Since 1990, he has been a chemist at Power Research Institute in Taiwan.
