Chih-hsin Wang was born in Wushing, Chekiang, China in 1881
After obtaining his second degree in the Manchu Dynasty, he became instructor of Chinese in different schools for more than ten years.
Then from 1913 till 1919 he worked as an editor in "the Chinese Christian Advocate". In 1921 Mr. Wang joined the faculty of Nanking Theological Seminary as professor of Chinese philosophy.
He also worked as an editor-in-chief of the Christian Literature Association in 1926-28, professor of Chinese Literature, and Dean of the Arts College in Fukien Christian University in 1928-34 . Since 1984 he was a head of Department of Chinese in University of Shanghai.
