Yuki Chikudo was born in 1868 in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.
Attended Kwansei Gakuin School and later studied under Chikuin Miyake and Kozan Ono.
Later became a member of Jiyoto (Liberal Party) and was sent to Formosa and Sakhalin to collect material for the compilation of a history of the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905). Was a clever poet of Chinese-style poetry, which he studied on his three trips to China. Later published a poetry magazine Shirin (Forest of Poems) and held an influential position in literary circles.
