Education
Chinkichi Toyama worked his way through the courses at Saisei-gakusha School and Tokyo University, graduating from the latter (1884). Finished postgraduate course of the same university (1884).
Career
Chinkichi Toyama served as physician at Yamagata Prefectural Hospital and then as teacher at Yamagata Medical School. Pursued researches in pathology and hygiene. He established Tokyo Kembikyoin (Microscope Institute). Became director of Tokyo Hygienic Experimental Station (1900). Works include "An Outline of Bacteriology," "Applied Bacteriology," "Thesis on the Prevention of Contagious Diseases" and "Modern Hygiene."
