Joined Foreign Service 1958, served in embassies in Cairo and Kinshasa, First Secretary, India’s Permanent Mission to United Nations, then Counsellor, Embassy in Belgrade 1963-1973, Ambassador and Chairman Institute Commission, for Supervision and Control, Laos 1973-1975, Ambassador in Hanoi 1975-1976, then Head Institute Organizations Division, Minister of External Affairs. Additional Secretary and Adviser on Foreign Affairs to Prime Minister since 1981.
