Career
A retainer of Mito Clan (Ibaraki Prefecture). He studied under Shoshisai Aizawa and Toko Fujita at Kodokan, and was appointed professor at Military College (1889) and also taught history at Tokyo University and other institutions. Was an authority on the Edo Period. Is the author of "History of 15 Generations of Tokugawas.”
