Chrissy Teigen was born on November 30, 1985, in Delta, Utah, the United States, to Vilailuck and Ron Teigen Sr. The family moved to several different states. Chrissy has lived in Idaho, in Washington State, and in Hawaii. Her family finally put their roots down in Huntington Beach, California.

Career

Teigen didn’t dream of becoming a model. She wanted to become a teacher instead. Teigen got her start in modeling over a decade ago when she was discovered while working at a surf shop in California. She then became part of the American game show Deal or No Deal where she worked as a substitute model during its second season in 2006-2007. She graced the cover of Maxim magazine’s calendar in July 2007.

While modeling, she embarked into the world of television, working as a contributor and recurring host for channels like MTV, FUSE/MSG, and E! She featured in the American late-night talk show Watch What Happens Live and in the reality TV series America's Next Top Model. Teigen had a career breakthrough in 2010 when she was featured as Rookie of the Year in Sports Illustrated’s famous swimsuit issue.

The popular racing video game Need For Speed: The Run, which released in November 2011, saw her playing a role. In 2012, she was dubbed Our New Girlfriend by Spike TV. She hosted eight episodes of the American reality TV series Model Employee during spring 2013 and played the role of a relationship counselor in the American sketch comedy TV series Inside Amy Schumer in April 2014. She continued contributing to an entertainment news magazine Extra and the celebrity news website TMZ.

She landed on the cover of Sports Illustrated again in 2014 alongside models Nina Agdal and Lily Aldridge, and also graced the pages of such magazines as Cosmopolitan, Glamour, and Italian Vogue. She made a guest appearance in the American romantic comedy TV series The Mindy Project in January 2015. From April 2015, she started co-hosting American musical reality competition TV series Lip Sync Battle along with LL Cool J.

The same year Teigen entered the world of daytime television as one of the hosts of FabLife. Produced by Tyra Banks, the syndicated talk show also featured Joe Zee, Lauren Makk, and Leah Ashley, with Teigen serving as the group’s food expert. Hampered by low ratings and Banks' early departure, FabLife lasted just one season.

Branching out in another direction in 2011, Teigen started her own blog, So Delushious, to share her recipes and opinions. Building on that theme, Teigen authored the best-selling Cravings: Recipes for All of the Food You Want to Eat in 2016. Two years later, she published Cravings: Hungry for More and launched the Cravings cookware line through Target.

Teigen also emerged as a force in social media with her candid and humorous posts, accumulating more than 12 million followers on Twitter by 2020. However, that spring she announced she was taking a break from social media, after a critic's denouncement of the Cravings site as a "content farm" spawned an influx of ugly comments.

Teigen resurfaced on the small screen in summer 2019 as a judge on the comedy competition series Bring the Funny, alongside Jeff Foxworthy, Kenan Thompson and host Amanda Seales. The following spring, she took on a different sort of judging role, playing a Judge Judy-style mediator of petty disagreements in Quibi's Chrissy's Court.

Chrissy Teigen is very vocal on social media and has no fear of standing up for her political beliefs. She famously trolled Donald Trump on Twitter to the point that he blocked her after tweeted at him, "Lolllllll no one likes you." The legislation was later implemented that the President couldn’t block people on Twitter, and he was forced to unblock Teigen. Alongside John Legend, Teigen endorsed Elizabeth Warren during the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries and Joe Biden in the 2020 United States presidential election.

Views

Teigen identifies as a feminist. John Legend and Chrissy Teigen donated $200,000 to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, a campaign started to provide legal support and representation to victims of sexual violence. She also made donations to the nonprofit organization Planned Parenthood. In May 2020, Teigen donated $200,000 to bail and legal defense funds to aid activists arrested during the Black Lives Matter protests.

Connections

Teigen met singer John Legend in 2007 on the sets of the latter’s music video Stereo. The two dated for four years and Legend proposed to her in December 2011. He dedicated the song All of Me to her, and she was featured in the 2013 music video. The two got married in Como, Italy on September 14, 2013. They welcomed their daughter Luna Simone Stephens on April 14, 2016.

Their son, Miles Theodore Stephens, was born on May 16, 2018. Miles was born three weeks premature. He was named after musician Miles Davis and his middle name Theodore is just a name that Teigen loved. Teigen announced her third pregnancy in August 2020 by revealing her baby bump in her husband's music video for the song Wild but unfortunately suffered a miscarriage on September 30th, 2020. The couple had named the child Jack.
