Wamser was born on July 15, 1913 in Long Island, New York, United States; the son of Christian Ludwig Wamser and Margaret (Fuchner) Wamser.
Wamser earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Cooper Union Institute of Technology (nowadays Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art) in 1934.
Wamser began his career as an analytical chemist at Jelenko & Company in 1934. Seven years later he took a position of a supervisor of analytical chemical division at General Chemical Company. Then in 1948, Christian became a research chemist at Vitro Corporation.
Also he served as a research chemist at Allied Chemical Corporation in Morristown from 1962 to 1969. In 1969, Wamser took the same position at Allied Chemical Corporation in Syracuse, where he worked until his retirement in 1978. He was a consultant that corporation in 1978-1982 and again in 1986-1987.
Wamser was a member of American Chemical Society.
Wamser loved classical music and was an avid collector of recordings. Throughout his chemical career, he maintained a home laboratory and published his first two articles based on experimental research done at home.
On May 30, 1940 Christian Wamser married Madeline Grace Miller. They have a son, a daughter, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
