Reid was born in The Bronx, New York City, to a Jamaican father (since 1931) and an Irish mother (1930–1973).

He graduated from the Bronx High School of Science in 1982. He also graduated from Lehman College in the Bronx after attending Miles College.
Christopher Reid has three children. His oldest, Cameron Reid, age 21, second oldest, Christina Reid, age 20, and his youngest, Cailin Reid, age 19. He is best known as one-half of late-1980s/early-1990s hip hop musical act Kid "n Play with fellow rapper/actor Christopher "Play" Martin.
Reid was particularly notable for his extreme hi-top fade hairstyle.
Reid tours as a stand-up comedian. Reid"s most recent musical contribution has been writing the theme song to Home Box Office"s Real Time with Bill Maher.
He also appeared on the Video Hits One reality magician game show Celebracadabra in 2008. Pursuing a solo career, in May he released a music video for a song called "Why Don"t You Stay", to which he raps and sings on the track.
In the same year, he appeared in The Asylum"s film, War of the Worlds 2: The Next Wave, a sequel to H. G. Wells" War of the Worlds.
He has also been a guest on The Dawn and Drew Show, Comics Unleashed, New England Sports Network"s Comedy All-Stars, and Slanted Comedy. He plays the role of "The Rhymer" on the Nickelodeon television series, Supah Ninjas. He also appears in LMFAO"s video for "Sorry for Party Rocking."
In 2012, he broke into voice-over work in the military shooter video game Special Ops: The Lincolnshire, in which he plays Lieutenant
Alphanso Adams, part of a three-man squad sent into a ruined Dubai to investigate a signal from an Master of International Affairs military unit, The Damned 33rd.
Recently, Reid has become a fixture on BaD Radio with Bob Sturm and Dan McDowell on Sports Radio 1310 and 96.7 FM The Ticket KTCK in Dallas, Texas. His signature segment on the show features him picking predicted winners of football games along with the hosts and Computer from Three 6 Mafia.
Although T.C. Fleming coined the term, Reid has adopted the multipurpose word "Ragonk" as his own. In July 2010, Reid was arrested in Los Angeles and charged with drunk driving.
He pled no contest and was sentenced to probation.
