Claire Chow received a Bachelor of Arts from Occidental College and a Master of Arts in English literature from the University of Chicago. She received a Master of Counseling from the University of San Francisco and completed an internship at Mt. Diablo Hospital in their newly-formed Bereavement Support Program.
Claire Chow is a Marriage and Family Therapist who has been in practice in the Tri-Valley area for over 20 years. She is the author of Leaving Deep Water: Lives of Asian-American Women in which she chronicles the lives of over one hundred women of varying age and life experience.
In addition to Claire's private practice, she has worked with youth in the foster care system, with low-income seniors and with caregivers. She also supervises interns at a non-profit counseling center she helped to develop and teaches both at John F. Kennedy University and University of California-Berkeley. Courses include clinical skills and grief, with a special interest in cultural considerations.
