After establishing residence in San Francisco, Mr. Ward secured a position as draftsman with the late Edward R Swain, for whom he worked until 1892. During that year he opened his own office in the city continued independent practice for a decade, then after twenty years (1904-24) when he carried on work under the firm name of Meyers & Ward, formed a partnership with J. Harry Blohme and continued in that association until about 1935.
Following the earthquake and fire of 1906 Mr. Ward was active in reconstruction work and is said to have planned and built at least a hundred new buildings, designed the Machinery Building at the Pan Pacific Exposition of 1914 and several Fire Engine Houses in San Francisco.
He was a member of the old San Francisco Chapter, A I. A. and a past-president of the State Board of Architecture.
