Background
HILL, Clement Lloyd was born on May 5, 1845. 3rd son of late Reverend John Hill, The Citadel, Shropshire. Vi. 1st, 1889, Charlotte Eliza (d. 1900), daughter of Sir G. Denys, widow of Charles Waring. 2nd, 1906, Muriel, daughter of late Colin G. Campbell and Mrs. Campbell of 34 Lower Belgrave Street.
Education
Studied at Marlborough College.
Career
Entered Foreign Office, 1867. Secretary to Sir B. Frere’s mission to Zanzibar, 1872-1873. Acting Charge d’Affaires at Munich, 1876.
Commissioner to Hayti, 1886 and 1887. Superintendent of African Protectorates under Foreign Office, 1900. Retired, 1905. Member of Parliament (Unionist) Shrewsbury since 1906.
