Clive Graymore studied at the University of Plymouth where he received a degree in chemistry in 1953. Later he studied at the University of London and received a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy degree.
Clive Graymore started his career in 1956 when he took up a post of lecturer at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. He held this post until 1962 and became a senior lecturer. He also was a subdean of the institute. Graymore was an honorary senior registrar at the Moorfields Eye Hospital. He also worked at the University of Exeter.
Clive Graymore was an editor of such books as Biochemistry of the Retina and The Biochemistry of the Eye. He wrote articles on photography and was the editor of Experimental Eye Research. In 1987, Graymore published a book Alcoholism: Insight into the Addictive Mind.
