Background
Conrad Arensberg was born on September 12, 1910. He was the first son of Charles F. C. Arensberg, a lawyer of German-English extraction who ultimately became President of the Pennsylvania Bar, and Emily Wright (Maynadier) Arensberg, of French Huguenot ancestry, whose family migrated to the American South in 1688. He was raised with his three brothers, Walter, Charles and James in Pittsburgh and its surrounds.
