Constance Nauta was born in 1961. Her documented life and career developed in the Netherlands, where she trained for the legal profession and practised law in Rotterdam and Amsterdam.
Constance Nauta's university education was at Leyden University, known today as Leiden University, in the Netherlands. Founded in 1575, Leiden is the oldest university in the Netherlands, and its long-established academic tradition formed the setting for her legal training.
She was admitted to the bar in 1987, the year documented for her studies, which marked her entry into the Dutch legal profession.
Constance Nauta began her legal career as a lawyer with Nauta Dutilh, a firm based in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, where she practised from 1987 to 1995. The firm now operates as NautaDutilh, and its history is traced back to 1724.
From 1995 to 2000 she served as a deputy judge (rechter-plaatsvervanger) at the Rotterdam District Court. Dutch district courts are the courts of first instance, and deputy judges serve as substitutes within the judicial system.
She later worked as corporate counsel and secretary to the board of directors at Alexander Monro Borstkankerziekenhuis, a hospital whose name identifies it as a breast cancer hospital. Her career also included a partnership at Resident Associates.
Constance Nauta served as a member of the complaints committee of Jeugdbescherming Rotterdam Rijnmond from 2000 to 2012. Jeugdbescherming Rotterdam Rijnmond is a youth protection organization serving Rotterdam and the surrounding Rijnmond region, and its complaints committee considers grievances about its services.
From 2011 to 2016 she was also a member of the complaints committee of the Zuidhollandse Centrale Klachtencommissie Kinderopvang, a body handling complaints about childcare in South Holland.
