Constantin Blendea was born on March 2, 1929, in a commune Peștișani, Gorj, Romania. He was a son of Nicolae Blendea and Ana Blendea.
Romanian sculptor Vasile Blendea was his uncle.
Among Constantin Blendea’s teachers were a Romanian painter and decorator Gheorghe Labin and a professor of the Artistic Anatomy Gheorghe Ghiţescu. The latter appreciated Blendea’s artworks and inspired him to pursue the artistic journey.
Constantin Blendea exhibited his artworks around the world, including the National Museum of Art in Bucharest, Romania (1968), La Bitta Gallery in Rome, Italy (1978), the exhibitions of the Romanian Contemporary Art in Stuttgart, Germany (1975), Denmark (1980), Athens, Greece (1986), as well as two Biennales, the one for Young Artists in the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris, France (1961) and the one in Sao Paolo, Brasil (1989).
Among the personal shows the painter had during his career can be cited two expositions in his native country, at the National Museum of Art in Bucharest (1999) and at the Art Museum of Cluj-Napoca (2012).
Despite his painting activity, Constantin Blendea worked as a professor of art at the Nicolae Grigorescu Fine Arts Institute (currently Bucharest National University of Arts).
Constantin Blendea was a talented painter whose artistic mind was recognized in his native Romania and abroad.
During his lifetime, the painter received multiple prestigious awards, including the First Prize at the International Salon of Modern Arts in Quissac, France, Second Prize for painting from the Romanian Artists' Union, Ion Andreescu Prize from the Romanian Academy and the National Order of Faithful Service (Knight).
