(This catalogue of the exhibition curated by Germano Celan...)
This catalogue of the exhibition curated by Germano Celant in the Correr Museum of Venice investigates a specific aspect of the work of Claes Oldenburg, a major figure of contemporary American art: that of his creations relating to architecture, documenting the large scale projects executed by the artist between 1969 right up to 1999. Here is an opportunity to discover and appreciate the monumental constructions the artist executed all over the world, from Chicago and Philadelphia, Paris and Dusseldorf, Frankfurt to Weil am Rhein, including the latest, original project the artist intends to execute with Coosje van Bruggen for Venice, a lion's tail that, issuing from the Napolconic Wing, will partially take over the space in front of San Marco. The book, aside from the exhibited works, features the forty-eight projects executed on every continent, an offers valuable scientific knowledge of workings of the great American artist, and reflects on the controversial issue of art in public spaces, and the essential collaboration between the artist and the public.

(Published in conjunction with the monumental multimedia p...)
Published in conjunction with the monumental multimedia performance by the sculptor, Claes Oldenburg, the writer/curator Coosje van Bruggen, and the architect Frank O. Gehry, Il Corso del Coltello is a compilation of bizarre recipes, theatrical floor plans, and descriptive notes on the play and its cast. The recipes are illustrated by Oldenburg and give detailed instructions on concocting a cork and chestnut soup, architectural pasta, and letter-shaped chicken, while the play's setting is richly illustrated with a combination of writings by van Bruggen and preparatory sketches by Gehry and Oldenburg. All but the cast description and setting is written in the Italian language.

(These contemporary American artists have produced a serie...)
These contemporary American artists have produced a series of monumental public sculptures for sites throughout America and Europe, among them the controversial "Lipstick (Ascending) on Caterpillar Tracks" at Yale University, "Batcolumn" in Chicago and the "Mistos (Match cover)" in Barcelona. This book details the individual histories of 27 sculptures, presenting the artists' personal viewpoints on them, together with a range of contemporary essays and observations made at the time the works were created. Interwoven into the case histories are original notes and sketches, working drawings, models and engineering plans. Each work is illustrated with colour photographs and numerous documentary photographs from the project's development.

(No building was more anticipated than Frank Gehry's stunn...)
No building was more anticipated than Frank Gehry's stunning new museum in Bilbao, an industrial city in the Basque Country of northern Spain. Philip Johnson, the dean of American architects, declared it "the greatest building of our time," while Sverre Fehn, winner of the 1997 Pritzker Architecture Prize, called the building "fantastic." Gehry's use of nontraditional materials and his sensitivity to the environments of his buildings is legendary; his method of envisioning a building through semiautomatic drawings and handmade models is little known, but provides an immediate entry into his creative process. This book celebrates the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and details its design process, bringing to life one of Gehry's greatest achievements. Coosje van Bruggen, who has collaborated with Gehry on various architectural and art projects, documents the history of the Guggenheim Bilbao from conception through design and construction. With unique access to the architect and his studio, she uncovers scores of fascinating drawings and working photographs, published here for the first time.
