Mandeville began his career as a second-in-command lieutenant at the United States Army in 1963. Four years later he took a position of a battery commander of the 2nd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment of the 101st AIrborne Division at the United States Army in Vietnam, where he served until 1968. Also Craig worked as a deputy regimental advisor of the 15th Infantry Regiment, 9th ARVN Division at the same army from 1971 to 1972.
In 1978, he became a staff officer and deputy chief of staff operations and plans at District Attorney Headquarters at the United States Army in Washington. Then in 1982, Mandeville held a position of a battalion commander of the 1st Battalion (LANCE) 12th Field Artillery at the United States Army, where he worked until his retirement in 1983.
Also he served as a manager of C-17 program development at Douglas Aircraft Corporation from 1983 to 1989. In 1989, Craig became a business unit manager and acting general manager of C-17 program development in 1991 at the same corporation. Also Mandeville served as an executive assistant to C-17 senior vice president and program manager at Douglas Aircraft Corporation. Nowadays he is a retired lieutenant colonel and president of Westminster Vietnam War Memorial.
