1994Quotations: "My books are generally aimed at six- to ten-year-olds and I aspire to entertain and to instill a joy of books and reading. I integrate words and pictures—not unlike a comic book—to lend pace, humor, and accessibility to my tales. However, the messages behind my stories are sophisticated and thoughtful and are often concerned with problem-solving and conflict resolution. I am fascinated by the language and universality of fairy tales, and in stories that externalize internal processes of conflict and transformation."
