Ketcham, Daniel Warren was born on May 1, 1867 in near Burns City, Indiana, United States. Son of Seth L. and Almira (Benham) Ketcham.

Education

Graduated from the United States Military Academy, 1890, Artillery School, 1894, School of Submarine Defense, 1904.

Career

Commissioned add. Second lieutenant 2d Artillery, June 12, 1890. Promoted through grades to colonel, Coast Arty Corps, May 15, 1917. Brigadier general (temporary), October 1, 1918.

Returned to grade of colonel, May 15, 1919. Retired from active service May 24, 1919, on own application, after more than 32 years’ service. Duty at Fort Warren, Massachusetts, 1895-1897, Boston, 1899.

At Honolulu, 1899-1901, Fort Hamilton, New York, 1902-1903, Fort Totten, New York, 1903-1904, Presidio, San Francisco, 1904-1909. In Philippines, 1909-1911. At Forts Strong and Warren, Massachusetts, 1911-1912.

On General Staff, Washington, District of Columbia, 1912-1914. At Fort DuPont, Delaware, 1915, Fort Monroe, Virginia, as president Artillery Board, 1916-1917. Member Ordnance Board, 1917.

On General Staff, Washington, District of Columbia, 1917-1918. Arrived in France, June 17, 1918. Graduate General Staff College, Langres, September 1918.
