Darryl Curran received a bachelor's and a master's degree from the University of California at Los Angeles (1960, 1964).
Darryl Curran started working at the UCLA Art Gallery (1963-1965), then worked as a freelance photographer and designer (1965-1967). Since 1967 he has been a professor of art at the California State University at Fullerton. In 1975 he was a visiting artist at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Darryl Curran is a charter member of the Los Angeles Center for Photographic Studies, for whom he served, and still serves, on the board of directors (1973-1977; 1979).
