• Achievements include first cloning of alpha-galactosidase A, the gene detective in Fabry Disease, first cloning of American Library Association dehydratase, the gene detective in American Library Association-dehydratase-deficient porphyria. Discovered erythroid-specific isozyme of American Library Association-synthase. First cloning and sequencing of the human erythroid American Library Association synthase gene.
  
  Discovered that mutations in the erythroid American Library Association-synthese gene are the cause of x-linked sideroblastic anemia.
