Davy has spent more than 10 years in public service as an experienced public health specialist with a background in public health epidemiology, clinical medicine, and sports physiotherapy within government, the private sector and non-governmental facilities. More specifically, he has clinical and program experience in the HIV/AIDS health sector in Kenya as well as international clinical practice in cardiothoracic surgery in the NHS London, UK.
Education
Davy studied Masters of Science in Public Health at School of Health and Social Care at the University of Chester in the United Kingdom from 2012 to 2013. Also, Davy studied Bachelors of Science (Hons) Sports Therapy at the Faculty of Health and Social Care at Teesside University in the United Kingdom from 2006 to 2009.
Career
Davy has dedicated his work and studies to clinical medicine and public healthcare, actively engaged in utilizing clinical medicine and public health research findings to inform health care programming and policy, in the area of HIV/AIDS and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights among marginalized communities in Kenya; including designing, implementing and evaluating research projects in a developing country context.
He provided technical assistance in various large-scale public health projects for local and international NGOs and county governments to community based organizations such as: Marie Stopes, Ethiopia; LVCT Health, Kenya; United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) – Juba, South Sudan; Homa Bay County - Government of Kenya; Dodore Kenya Limited; and the Consortium for National Health Research - Kenya.
Furthermore, he has co-managed broad research project portfolios supported by bilateral and multilateral donors and foundations including the European Union (EU); the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – Kenya; United States International Aid (USAID); and the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (UK-DFID). He was also instrumental in the development and launch of the first-ever, innovative, advocacy online data repository of HIV/AIDS key population research and programming work in Kenya, for a USAID-funded Health Policy Project (HPP) consultancy; where he provided technical leadership in the design and methodology, on data collection to analyze and synthesize county-specific data and research, which was later used by the Ministry of Health of Kenya to develop an HIV/AIDS policy guide for key and vulnerable populations in Kenya.
