Background
Born February 15, 1953 at İzmir, Turkey. Graduated from Turkish Naval Academy (B.S.), U.S. Naval Postgraduate School (M.S.M.E. and Mechanical Engineer), did postgraduate research at University of Newcastle upon Tyne (U.K.) and earned Ph.D. from Istanbul Technical University in the field of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Taught at Turkish Naval Academy, Istanbul Technical University, Near East University, Dokuz Eylül University, Piri Reis University and at the University of Kyrenia.
