Dennis Feltham Jones was born in 1918 in Cornwall, United Kingdom.
Jones worked variously as a bricklayer and gardener and was a naval commander in World War II. Since 1945, he worked as a freelance writer, living in Cornwall until his death in 1981.
During his fifteen-year career as a science fiction author, D. F. Jones contributed eight novels to the genre. Several of these tomes drew positive criticism for the author’s view of society.
Jones is particularly most famous for his Colossus series, the first of which was translated to the big screen in 1970 for the film Colossus: The Forbin Project. The film was well received by critics and was nominated for a Hugo Award in 1971.
