The book of a US travelling exhibition of 'original works of classical Greek art, many of which have never before been displayed outside Greece.' The 40 works featured - all reproduced in full colour and in multiple views - include bronzes, marbles, friezes, and gravestones, among them such icons of the period as the Kritios Boy , Contemplative Athena , Cavalry from the Parthenon Frieze , and Nike Unbinding her Sandal . The text comprises an introduction by Nicholas Gage and essays by seven leading scholars, and others.
