Mikhail Vladimirovich graduated from the History Department of Voronezh State University in 1984.
Mikhail Vladimirovich has been working as a lecturer since 1987 and associate professor since 1994 of the Department of Archeology and Ancient History at the Voronezh State University. On the territory of the Voronezh region, he studied a significant number of monuments of the 12th-15th centuries and a number of multilayer monuments, including the Semiluksky fortification (1989, 1991-1993), the Golden Horde mausoleum-mosque near the village of Krasnoye, Bobrovsky district (2002).
Mikhail Vladimirovich is the author of more than 100 scientific publications, including the book "Tagansky Soil Burial Ground" (Voronezh, 2004; together with Y.P. Matveev). He is one of the authors of the collective monograph "Novokharkiv Burial Ground of the Golden Horde Era" (Voronezh, 2002).
