(Is truth relative or absolute? Is freedom won on the batt...)
Is truth relative or absolute? Is freedom won on the battlefield or by personal effort? How are spirit and mind related? What are the essence and purpose of life? Are biblical creationists and Darwinian evolutionists both wrong? What is the universe made of? In a courageous quest for answers to life's ultimate questions, Rothe explores the mysteries of existence and shares his philosophical insights, which go far beyond the narrow, diverging views of reality painted by scientific and religious doctrines.

Dietmar Rothe was born on August 22, 1934, in Oppach, Sachsen, Germany. He is the son of an engineer, Herbert Paul, and Ella Clara Rothe. In 1952 Rothe emigrated to Canada and then relocated to the United States.
Dietmar Rothe attended McMaster University, where he received a Bachelor of Engineering in engineering physics with honors in 1961. He also earned a Master of Applied Science in 1962 and a Doctor of philosophy in aerospace sciences in 1966 at the University of Toronto.
Dietmar Rothe served as a designer and engineering assistant at General Electric Company in Guelph, Canada, from 1953 to 1959. In 1966 he became a research aerodynamicist and plasma physicist at the Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory in Buffalo, where he worked until 1971. After that, next five years, Rothe served as a staff scientist at the Lumonics Research Limited in Canada. Then, in the United States, he held the position of a research scientist at the Northrop Research and Technology Center in 1976-1980, laser division's manager at the Helionetics Incorporated in 1980-1983, and a scientific consultant at the Rothe Technical Research in 1983-1989. From 1995 to 2000, Rothe was a scientific advisory board member at the Lasertechnics Marking Corporation. To date, since 1985, he is an activist for Urban growth control and holds four patents in pulsed-power technology.
Moreover, Dietmar Rothe is a writer. In addition to writing books, he is the author of almost forty scientific papers, which appeared in scientific journals and proceedings.
Dietmar Rothe is best known as an engineer and writer. He is a holder of several awards and honors, such as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Tech Brief Award in 1970 and the Editor's Choice Awards from the National Library of Poetry in 1995 and 1996. Rothe earned more than a dozen research and development grants from various sources, including the United States Navy, United States Army, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration. In 1953 he got the 1st Carter Scholarship from the Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute and was on the McMaster University Dean's Honor List in 1959-1961. Rothe also received the 1961-1962 National Research Council Fellowship, the 1962-1963 Wallberg Research Fellowship, and the 1964-1965 Ford Foundation Fellowship, all from the University of Toronto.

2000Dietmar Rothe was a Lutheran. After emigrating from his homeland, he moved from one location to another but growing no permanent roots anywhere. He has similarly not become attached to any particular ethnic, cultural, or religious way of life, which has permitted Rothe to look beyond and pursue his quest for truth and freedom without these constraints.
After Worl War II, having experienced the horrors and senselessness of war, Dietmar Rothe began questioning traditional values associated with nationalism and organized religion. He soon has realized that human governments cannot legislate truth or freedom, establish real values, and give purpose to lives.
Rothe's viewpoints, opinions, and convictions have crystallized out of a lifelong study of the world's philosophies, sciences, and religions. He has taken ideas from many sources of knowledge and integrated these with his own experiences and with his professional knowledge of physics and engineering to construct a self-consistent world view.
Quotations:

"Having no strong attachments to any particular place has given me a sense of cosmopolitan citizenship. My home is planet Earth."
Dietmar Rothe married Gerda Mahlstedt in 1957 and divorced in 1979. Then, in 1986, he married Rose Angela Roeser. Dietmar Rothe has two sons, Eric Wayne and Frederic Terence Rothe.
