She graduated from University of Wyoming and got the secretarial science certificate then she has earned an early childhood education certificate and finally attended University of California in Los Angeles.
She worked at Educational aide in Los Angeles, California for twenty years and she was a Deacon and elder at Palms Westminster Presbyterian Church.
As she watched her own children and those she taught at a nursery school playing with their shadows, Dolores B. Dace decided to take pictures of their innocent fun. Before long, she had written the text of a story to accompany her photographs. These materials combined to form You Can't Get Away from Your Shadow, her first published work.
She died on May 21, 2011 at 81 years of age.
She was married to Warren B. Dace Jr., who was an electrical engineer on June 19, 1954, and they had two children: Dolores Ellen, Barbara Yamamoto.
