Don Perrin was born on October 1, 1964, in Iserlohn, Germany. He is a son of D. B. Perrin, an army officer, and Elizabeth (White) Perrin, a financial director.
In 1987, Don received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics from the Royal Military College of Canada.
During the period from 1983 till 1992, Perrin served as an engineer in the Corps of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He left the service with the rank of captain. Between 1992-1993, Don held a post of a director of electronic warfare research at Software Kinetics in Ottawa. In 1993, Perrin began a career of a writer, settling down in Williams Bay, Wisconsin.
Also, during his lifetime, Don was associated with Archangel Entertainment company, for which he designed the game Zero in 1997. He also designed "Star of the Guardians Collectible Trading Card Game", "Wing Commander Collectible Trading Card Game" and role-playing games for Imperium Games' Traveller RPG Universe. For Imperium's fourth edition of Traveller, Don wrote about starships.
Later in his lifetime, in 1998, Don, together with Lester Smith, designed the "Sovereign Stone" role-playing game, which is based on the trilogy of Sovereign Stone books.
In 2005, Perrin, together with Michael Cosentino and Kathyrn Plamback bought two United States wargaming magazines "The Courier" and "MWAN" in order to combine them into the "Historical Miniature Gamer Magazine". The magazine published articles on different issues, including wargaming/wargames (of widely varied periods), tips on painting, building hints, scenarios, reviews of wargaming books and others. The magazine was closed in 2008.
Currently, Don holds a post of a Vice President of Operations at Mag Force 7, Inc. Also, he is a Director of Development at PerBlue, a company, that produces mobile games.
