Arrested in AlmaAta in 1944 while still a student. Sentenced to 5 years in labour camps. In the 1960s, taught Russian language and literature, and published articles in the press.
One of her numerous books, Nash Novyi Mir, under the pen-name of V. E. Bogdan, circulated in samizdat. Left the USSR, 1977. Settled in Israel. Major political writer, critic and sociologist in the Russian emigre press.
