Doris Falk was born on July 21, 1919, in Savannah, Georgia. She is a daughter of Washington Falk and Doris Jean Falk.
In 1949 Doris Falk became a teacher of English at the Rutgers University in 1949. She held this post until 1974 when she became professor emeritus. Falk also worked as a lecturer in Japan, in 1955.
Falk wrote two books. The first one, Eugene O'Neill and the Tragic Tension, was published in 1958 and the second about Lillian Heilman, in 1978.
